Akbaba, dijital kolaj, fine art baskı, 50x50 cm, 2019

Akbaba isimli kolajda insan bedeninin kendisini değil, ondan geriye kalan şeylerin manzaranın içinde eridiğini, tanımların bulanık, sınırların daha geçirgen olduğunu görüyoruz. Yine de kompozisyonda -bir tutam sarı saçın gökyüzünde bulunması gibi- insan bedenine atıfta bulunan unsurlar görmek mümkün. Bu iş, hem insanlık için bir “memento mori” beyanı, hem de doğanın direncine dair bir görsel olarak yorumlanabilir. Ölüm, bir aşamada başkası için hayat anlamına gelebilir. Dönüşüme dair bir görsel olarak Akbaba, insanlığın bir zamanlar dünyada olmadığını, geçici olduğunu ve varlığının bir gün sona ereceğini hatırlatıyor.

In the collage Vulture, what remains of the human body is dissolved into the landscape, distinctions are blurred and boundaries become more porous. Yet we still see hints of it, in the case where a cluster of golden hair stands in for the sky. It is possible to read the work as an image of memento mori for humankind, but one that is also a statement about the resilience of nature. Death on one level might mean life on another. As an image of transition, it is a reminder that once humankind was absent from the face of the earth and it is transient, destined to leave the planet at some point in the future.
